On Saturday, July 25, 2026, Minister Adama Coulibaly paid an official visit to the new headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Unit (PPEF) in Cocody-II Plateaux, accompanied by the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Sansan Kambilé. The purpose of the visit was to validate the PPEF’s modern facilities, a central pillar of Côte d’Ivoire’s strategy to combat money laundering, terrorist financing, and financial crime networks. During the visit, the Minister highlighted the building’s technological advancements, including state-of-the-art security systems, fully equipped hearing rooms, and inter-institutional coordination spaces. He also outlined recent legislative reforms, notably the ratification of bills related to the ARCOP (Regulatory Authority for the Collection of Unfair Competition), the AfCFTA (African Continental Free Trade Area), and refining support taxes, which strengthen the legal framework for combating financial crimes.
During this event, the Minister reiterated the importance of cooperation. Internationally, particularly with the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), which is to assess the country’s compliance performance, Côte d’Ivoire expressed its commitment to continuing the reforms initiated since 2020, especially regarding the transparency of financial flows and strengthening the capacity of supervisory authorities. The visit also provided an opportunity to present the PPEF modernization projects, partly financed by the World Bank and KfW, which aim to improve the detection of suspicious transactions and strengthen cooperation with foreign agencies.
In conclusion, this visit served to reaffirm the Ivorian government’s determination to effectively combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism, while reassuring international partners of the strength of the country’s judicial and financial institutions.
The visit to the new PPEF headquarters thus marks a key step in the implementation of Côte d’Ivoire’s financial security policy, with a view to supporting economic growth and attracting more foreign investment.
