MEF and BID Invest launch strategy to mobilize up to US$1 billion in private investment for Panama

The Ministry of Economy and Finance announced a strategic partnership with BID Invest, the private‑sector arm of the Inter‑American Development Bank, to mobilize up to US$1 billion of private investment for Panama over the next several years. The collaboration focuses on accelerating economic growth, expanding access to financing, and promoting high‑potential sectors that can generate employment and diversify the economy. Key objectives include supporting infrastructure projects, fostering innovation in technology and services, and enhancing the competitiveness of small and medium‑sized enterprises. Under the agreement, both entities will work together to identify investment opportunities, streamline regulatory processes, and develop mechanisms that attract foreign capital. The initiative also aims to strengthen Panama’s position as a regional hub for trade and investment by improving the business climate and aligning with the country’s broader development strategy. Stakeholders expect that the influx of private capital will stimulate job creation, increase export capacity, and contribute to a more robust fiscal position. The partnership underscores Panama’s commitment to leveraging strategic alliances to achieve sustainable economic development and to reinforce its role as a conduit for investment in Latin America.
